It starts in the year 1969 in New York City, where Daniel leads his siblings to see “the woman on Hester Street.” The rishika claims to know the day that anyone will die. One by one, each of the children has their fortune told by the old woman in a cluttered, messy apartment. No matter how hard they try to forget that day, the dates are ingrained into each sibling's mind for the rest of their lives. The narration jumps to 1978 in Simon’s perspective. Their father Saul dies, and it is 16 year old Simon's job to take over the family’s tailoring business. 5 Amazing Fantasy Series

By Ankita Are you having trouble finding good fantasy series to read? I've collected 5 of (in my opinion) the most interesting fantasy series to read. 5. Fablehaven, by Brandon Mull- Fablehaven (both the name of the series and the first book) stars two siblings, Seth and Kendra who are sent to live on their grandparent's nature reserve, which is full of all sorts of magical people and creatures, some of whom are neutral and others are very dangerous. I really enjoyed reading this entire series, and it really pulls you into the story and the world, and it uses creatures from many different mythologies in different places to give you a sense of how big the world really is. There are five books in this series, and I would recommend all of them. 4. Cinder, by Marissa Meyer- The first book in the Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder stars a young cyborg named Cinder who is an acclaimed mechanic in futuristic New Beijing, where a mysterious plague is spreading, and Lunars (people who ...

Omnia: Todo lo que Puedes Soñar - Book Review

By Rose Benjamin Imagine a place that contained every possible object you could imagine... and more. Objects large and small, realistic and impossible, gadgets, edible things, clothes, magical items, and everything else that exists anywhere, during any time period, are stored in Omnia, the great online store. Everything is accessible on the web to buy and have it delivered to you within a short period of time. Or at least, it should be. Omnia: Todo lo que Puedes Soñar is a novel written by Laura Gallego about a company that is similar to, let's say, Amazon. However, this company is extremely unusual. Running on a system of tubes that transport items around the world and tunnels whose function remains mysterious, Omnia delivers extraordinary objects to anywhere on Earth in a curiously short time. This book was written in Spanish, but I assume there are translated versions in English. The translation of the title is Omnia: Everything you Can Dream of , Omnia's slogan, which was ...

Cibola Burn - James S.A. Corey (Review)

Cibola Burn - James S.A. Corey Contains minor spoilers for The Expanse series By - Karl Vu Cibola Burn  is book 4 in The Expanse series. After the events of book 3, where a thousand "ring gates" open, each to a solar system in the galaxy, the crew of the Rocinante  (the main characters throughout the series) are sent through a ring gate to the planet New Terra/Ilus to act as a mediator between 2 factions on the planet. The first faction is the colonists, which illegally ran straight through a military blockade on the Sol system's ring to get there, and the second is RCE, a company who had permission to study the planet and would have been the first to land on it if the colonists hadn't burned through the blockade. The colonists who went to New Terra/Ilus are all poor, and think that RCE will prevent them from shipping valuable minerals they found on the planet back to Earth to make money. A militant group within the colonists shoots down an RCE shuttle that had a bu...
